چکیده

The vortex glass transition in the presence of columnar defects is studied by Monte Carlo simulations of a vortex loop model, suggested by the analogy to the T = 0 superconductor-insulator transition for dirty bosons in (2+1)D. From finite-size scaling analysis of the I-V characteristic we find two dynamical exponents describing the non-equilibrium behavior. We obtain z⊥ = 6±0.5 and z‖ = 4 ± 0.5 when the current is applied perpendicular and parallel to the columnar defects respectively. Nanostructured high-temperature superconductors: Creation of strong-pinning columnar defects in nanorod/superconductor composites

A chemical approach to the formation of columnar defects involving the growth and incorporation of MgO nanorods into high temperature superconductors (HTS’s) has been developed. MgO nanorods were incorporated into Bi2Sr2CaCu2Oz, Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3Oz, and Tl2Ba2Ca2Cu3Oz superconductors at areal densities up to 2 3 1010ycm2. Microstructural analyses of the composites demonstrate that the MgO nanorods c...

Imaging atomic-scale effects of high-energy ion irradiation on superconductivity and vortex pinning in Fe(Se,Te)

Maximizing the sustainable supercurrent density, J C, is crucial to high-current applications of superconductivity. To achieve this, preventing dissipative motion of quantized vortices is key. Irradiation of superconductors with high-energy heavy ions can be used to create nanoscale defects that act as deep pinning potentials for vortices. This approach holds unique promise for high-current app...

Vortex dynamics in high-Tc superconductors with sparse weak columnar defects

We have performed large-scale dynamical simulations on the current-driven three-dimensional frustrated anisotropic XY model with sparse weak columnar defects. Below the matching field, a moving Bose glass phase with superconducting coherence but without spatial order is observed at low temperatures. For very small columnar defect concentrations, a moving Bragg glass phase with both superconduct...

Critical properties of Bose-glass superconductors

– We study vortex lines in high-temperature superconductors with columnar defects produced by heavy ion irradiation. We reconsider scaling theory for the Bose glass transition with tilted magnetic fields, and propose, e.g., a new scaling form for the shape of the Bose glass phase boundary, which is relevant for experiments. We also consider Monte Carlo simulations for a vortex model with a scre...
